government annoyances....

Tue Mar 10, 2009, 8:57 AM
i am one of the unemployed masses of america who lost their job at the end of 2008 due to downsizing of the banking workforce to preserve the country's economy. now, i leech off the gub'ment on unemployment insurance paid out by the state. my boyfriend was unfairly denied unemployment benefits due to misinformation reported by his former employer. it took four months to get an appeal hearing, which he subsequently won and the original decision was reversed in his favor. now, nearly a month later, we JUST found out from the unemployment office that he was filed under a former claim and will have to forego around $3,500 due to ineptitude of their own office. lovely.
i find it amazing that in this age of technology that it still takes just as long to file court documents as it did 25 years ago. No one in goverment offices seems to answer their phones, much less deem you the simple courtesy of calling you back if you leave a message. sounds to me like all of us unemployed folks could find jobs at the unemployment office if they were properly staffed, among other government jobs - the DMV (always a nightmare), the office of social security, the housing authority...just to name the few places i have had to call for help.
i find it all so frustrating that i want to cry and yell at the same time. i want to go back to school for a master's degree in education that would allow me to become a high school english teacher...but do i give up my unemployment checks in place of a student loan?
*le sigh* i wish it wasn't so crappy and ugly outside, i'd go take pictures. march in the midwest sucks.
i guess it ain't all too bad...today's my sister's birthday - CAKE! so, it could be worse...it could be tomorrow! LOL!
